I got smoked at the sportsbook in Philly, kept hammering the Bills, and walked away with a stack of sad slips. Coping move of the week: I’m now separating my season record from the playoffs.

I went one and three with Bills, Niners, and Rams burning me while New England covered. Then I passed on the points with Miami, chased the moneyline, and lost, while you cashed the eight and a half.

Rams and Seahawks have split tight games, and you called this the de facto Super Bowl—why?

Sometimes one conference title is the real decider, and I think the winner here wins it all; I’m on the Rams plus two and a half. Seattle’s defense and home field are real, but McVay’s edge, the Rams’ ceiling we haven’t seen yet, and the fluky stuff that swung their last meeting push me toward Stafford, with meltdown more likely than magic from the other sideline even if three straight road wins is a grind.

I’m laying the points with Seattle, expect a lower-scoring fight, and trust that defense more than I trust the Rams.

Totally fair—Seattle can argue they’ve been the most complete team all year—but I’m sticking with L.A. this week.

Over to Denver: Patriots face that defense and Jared Stidham’s in for the Broncos—how do you see it?

I like Denver plus five and a half in a teens-type game because the Pats’ line has wobbled, Drake May has been loose with the ball, and the crowd noise should juice the rush. Stidham’s been parked for two years but he’s 29, Payton targeted him, and we’ve seen him flash against good teams, so I think New England squeaks by while Denver covers—the biggest home dog spot of this kind since the merger—with a Stafford versus May Super Bowl on deck.

I’m with you on the points and think Denver could win outright, and the no-expectations vibe might let Stidham play free.

For a man-made alt-line parlay, I’ve got New England plus two and a half, Rams plus ten and a half, and the under fifty five in Rams-Seahawks.

Five and a half is a nightmare number for eight-point teasers in the playoffs, so tread lightly, and after last week’s touchdown and totals face-plants I’m keeping it simple with Kyren Williams anytime touchdown at plus one twenty five.
