This is the Best of the Ben Maller Show on Fox Sports Radio.

A fine day for grandpas. We crank up another night across the map, and the big headline is out of Indy: the Colts pulled Philip Rivers out of retirement at age forty-four, signed him to the practice squad as paperwork, and with their room wrecked by injuries, he might actually play.

What’s the big picture on Rivers parachuting back? It’s a straight yes-or-no movie reboot—either Disney ending with a surprise run and confetti, or five snaps and a blown tire; there’s no gentle middle chapter here.

Should the Colts toss him in against Seattle? Absolutely—light the match and see what burns. He’s not there for a long-term plan; lean on Jonathan Taylor, keep the throws simple, take a couple shots, and bet Sam Darnold gifts you mistakes in the rain.

Does returning delay his Hall of Fame clock, and does it matter? It’s a clerical pause and a non-issue, and his case was flimsy to begin with—no All-Pros, never in the top two for MVP, a handful of playoff wins, and a stat line built on volume more than defining moments.

New hour, fresh flame: the Dodgers snatched Edwin Díaz from the Mets on a three-year, sixty-nine million dollar deal—high heat, vicious slider, the whole closer package.

Does it move the needle? It spins it. On paper L.A. lands the top finisher, but relievers are volatile like stocks; one year they’re gold, the next they’re the Barf-O-Matic infomercial. This is a luxury buy for a team that spoils its stars—just hope the trumpet doesn’t turn into a kazoo.

What about the boycott bluster online? That’s funhouse-mirror outrage. Baseball is a weak-link sport—role players flip series—so even superteams sweat. The Dodgers have embraced the villain cape, and villains drive ratings because the haters tune in hoping to see the fall.

How did Scott Boras do at the winter meetings? Peak pun factory, zero clarity—he served a three-course meal of wordplay, from salad to dessert, and all of it delicious nonsense; hand him the Riddler suit and let him cook.

Trouble: given Lamar Jackson’s dip, could John Harbaugh be on the hot seat?

I don’t see it—Baltimore values stability like Pittsburgh does with Tomlin; great regular seasons, thin January runs lately, but no hot seat.

After the Saints beat the Bucs, Demario Davis said Tyler Shuck has the it factor. Has he shown that?

No way—you need more than a moment to claim “it,” and he hasn’t shown it.

Report says the Steelers could pursue Kyler Murray in 2026. Can you see it?

There aren’t enough good QBs to go around, so he’ll get shots, but size and commitment are real questions; hard pass for me. You pass—another win for me.

It’s time for love on the Ben Maller Show—Queen of Hearts is open.

Esteban says he joked about trading his wife in like a car, and now she’s not speaking to him.

Treat her like the upgrade, not the trade-in—some pampering, a little polish, and a fresh shine go a long way.

Rob the Goat Man asks for the perfect holiday gift for a girlfriend or wife.

Make time and make it special—plan a night of lights with hot chocolate, something thoughtful and intentional.

Ferg Dog wonders if hiring an escort for family Christmas is acceptable if he can’t find a date.

If you’re just looking for a plus-one, an escort can keep it smooth with the family.

I once saw a coworker bring an obvious escort to a company holiday gala—the wives spotted it instantly, and the room lit up like a tree.

I’m forty-three, chatting with a twenty-year-old in foster care who turns twenty-one in July; thinking of moving them in as a paid assistant through Medicare. Is that a workable partnership?

That reads as predatory—separate household help from romance, and don’t create a power imbalance with someone in a vulnerable spot.

Scott’s a legendary grifter, but this is a bad idea—don’t do it.

Mike asks: naughty lingerie or comfy PJs?

Lingerie wins.

Password wraps the night—Far Out Dave versus Blind Scott. Clues go sideways, the room gets dumber by the minute, and the word was defend. See you next time.
