Episode summary
What up, it is the Joe and Jada show—music, fashion, sports, lifestyle—and when you picture real fly from late eighties blocks to NBA parades, you picture Jeff Hamilton.
I keep seeing that Kobe championship shot in your jacket; how did that come together?
It all began with Michael in ninety one when I built a championship jacket so the win’s story could live right away, and every title after that he expected me at the locker room with it.
Kobe took it further in Philly, slipping off with the trophy to sit with the moment, and when Andy Bernstein and I found him it became the frame that turned my jacket into a symbol of winning and reflection.
Were you always making your own pieces, or did you start out reselling?
I came to America at twenty four with six thousand dollars and no design background, licensed menswear for a brand that had just launched called Guess, and blew it up fast while barely speaking English.
I designed because I had to, hustling to provide, and over time shifted from chasing money to building work I love that feeds the culture.
You are everywhere and still grinding; what keeps that motor running?
My fuel is the failures—I lost it all, got humbled, and learned to treat the superstar and the busboy the same while never taking a day for granted.
I get paid to do what I love, whether it is one jacket or a thousand, and the respect hits different now because I do not believe my own hype anymore.
Facts—those hard seasons show you who you are and who is really with you.
At sixty four I reset, tapped back in with the community, stayed in one lane, and even turned something seen as outside the culture like NASCAR into streetwear everyone wanted.
Consistency earned me a real stamp from the streets, and that keeps me moving.
A Jeff Hamilton felt like a milestone—you knew you made it when you put one on.
Who did you see come up that surprised you?
Chrome Hearts is the clear one—I still have their first belt—and back then I was buying mountains of leather, mixing denim with skins, and selling where the players set the tone.
I crossed paths with the teams behind True Religion, Seven, Citizens, J Brand, Gallery Dept, and my north star has always been Ralph Lauren, and I am still hands on daily from design to deals.
What is next for you?
The World Cup is huge for me, with projects and pop ups across cities while the tournament goes crazy and prices soar.
I am aiming for collaborations that capture that global moment.
I call you and a white jacket appears; I have never seen someone your age hustle like that.
I feel thirty and live like it, minus the motorcycles.
You even go way back with Howard Stern.
He had me flip a Guns N Roses idea into a leather piece with his face and two mics, pulled out the old school checkbook himself, and answered his own phone—hands on top to bottom.
We have never had a fashion icon on this show, so thank you; you just pushed me to chase that crocodile grail, and I am still bragging about finally pulling the trigger on a Fendi fur after years of walking away because I am addicted to fresh and your work lasts.
Crocodile is the peak—you barely need a logo, just the right cut—and if you love how it feels in the mirror, you already won.
