Episode summary
Welcome in to Fantasy Pros, the Fantasy Football Podcast. It’s Joey P, hanging with two of my favorite Texans, and we’re diving into superflex strategy. I’ve been banging the drum for superflex for years, and if you’re in a ten-team league, I’ll say it again—add that second quarterback; it makes the game better. The pool feels deeper this season, so let’s set the table and talk how to play it.
I feel better about the quarterback pool too. Last year’s injuries wrecked a lot of superflex builds, but this season I’m buying bounce backs and discounts. Patrick Mahomes being priced like a fringe QB1 is wild; even with receiver questions, he creates value in the red zone and everywhere else. I’m also scooping underpriced options like Baker Mayfield and Daniel Jones where the market bakes in too much fear. Do not panic about last year’s injuries; grab the dip and let the upside work for you.
That middle tier is loaded. Past the big names you still see guys like Bo Nix and Kyler Murray who can finish inside the top ten. It makes late-first builds easy—you can take Bijan or Gibbs, then circle back for quarterbacks in rounds two and three and still feel great. D-Bro, what’s your superflex angle this year?
I’m waiting on quarterback and chasing rushing juice outside the top fifteen. Kyler at a discount is a gift. I’ll take a shot on a mobile arm in New Orleans like Tyler Shuck, and Malik Willis is the kind of runner who can carry a week regardless of receivers. I’ll even stash a flier like Shedeur Sanders if he wins a job. You can stockpile two or three of these after loading up at running back, wide receiver, or even tight end and still get top-twelve to top-fifteen outcomes.
Let’s stick with that middle lane. Tara, how are you handling pricey QB1s versus the depth that can beat ADP?
I’m leveraging depth instead of overpaying for risky elites. Jalen Hurts is fantastic, but his sticker price plus coordinator change and a shifting offense make it a tougher bet. I’d rather grab steady vets later—Matthew Stafford and Jared Goff come with volume, continuity, and Goff gets a friendly late-season slate with a bunch of dome games. I’m also cautious with situations where coaching can cap ceilings; that matters in superflex.
One more layer: the bench. I want a high-upside third like Mendoza as insurance, because quarterbacks miss time. D-Bro, how do you play that late QB2 and the depth spots?
Stash one or two backups with real paths to starts. I kept a season afloat streaming QB2s and it works. Brock Purdy stays undervalued despite strong per-game finishes, and names like Mac Jones or Marcus Mariota can give you usable weeks when doors open. History says roughly forty plus quarterbacks start at least four games every year, so plan for churn and you’ll survive the rough patches.
Great stuff on superflex. If you liked the strategy talk, subscribe and stick with us. That’ll do it for today—for D-Bro and Tara, I’m Joey P. We’ll see you next time, kids.
