About this episode
Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham and Bravo’s West Wilson are back in New York (freezing in Midtown) fresh off a Marriott shoot, debating the proper pronunciation of “gyro,” breaking down West’s go-to NYC bars, Sophie’s fear of subway snakes, and asking the important questions — like whether it’s acceptable to kill spiders in your house. But then things get real. Sophie gives a raw, unfiltered update on the WNBA CBA negotiations — revenue share, salary caps, housing debates, expansion draft chaos, and why the players are more unified than ever. If there’s a delay to the season, she makes one thing clear: it won’t be because the players weren’t ready. From business talk to breakfast casseroles, ‘Summer House’ behind-the-scenes stories, Southwest Airlines rants, dating app dilemmas, tall-girl preferences, and whether CEOs even eat their own products—this episode has it all. 00:00 - Start 2:43 - West's top 3 NYC Spots 3:43 - Sophie’s fear of Subway snakes 6:30 - Sophie VS. spiders 7:00 - CBA talk: Sophie explains the executive board 7:30 - OFF THE RAILS 8:00 - Back to WNBA CBA Talk 8:30 - Only small salary cap changes 10:00 - Breaking down BRI Splits 10:30 - NBA VS WNBA jersey sales B.R.I. Episode summary
Quick vibe check before we roll: is it euro or gyro, and welcome to episode thirty five, the KD episode; we even joked about his burner era because the internet is for having fun.
We’re in New York for a project, and I’m leaning Soho over Midtown for the energy and shopping; I’m a Soho girl, whatever that means.
If you’re in town, I’ll send you to a low-key East Village pub with a great burger and Guinness, plus Monkey Bar when you want dim, classy dinner vibes.
New York overwhelms me in a good way, but the subway freaks me out thanks to those wild animal clips; snakes are my line, spiders outside can live, inside they’re getting evicted.
On the CBA, are you in the room or getting summaries?
I’m in it, and this is the most engaged I’ve seen us; the league keeps tossing tiny tweaks while refusing to touch revenue share, which is the entire fight.
So small salary-cap bumps feel like a smokescreen that might not even reach most players.
Exactly; other leagues are roughly half-and-half, while our cut on tickets, merch, and more has sat in single digits, and they still want more games and a longer season with no real sharing of upside.
That sounds like the old college likeness problem, and more games also means more wear and tear.
If you want more of our time, share the growth; we’re even open to tradeoffs like pulling back on team-provided housing for guaranteed players while protecting non-guaranteed and recently traded players, but they won’t move there either.
Housing is also a market thing, and getting traded overnight should come with basic support.
Today they’ll cover a short hotel stretch, but that’s not promised in the new deal, so we’re pushing for set-asides for those players while guaranteed players handle their own.
Any real movement or timeline clarity?
They sat on our proposal for weeks and then circled March ten like it’s on us; we’re unified, prepared to delay if we must, and we want to be treated like pros with honest books and a fair split.
How does March ten tie into the expansion draft and all the roster chaos?
It all hinges on the CBA; protections might drop to five, core rules could shift, the college draft and expansion land back-to-back, and nearly everyone hits free agency, so without a deal it’s pure chaos.
And the league floated a March one training camp, which collides with March Madness and incoming rookies.
Exactly, it makes no sense, which is why we’re holding the line for practical timelines and basic respect.
Captain’s Calls energy: if you like someone in person, don’t overthink an app, just joke about it and make a real move.
Guys often look better off-camera anyway; Josh, if you want tall women, go where height lives like beach volleyball and bring good energy.
Keep the body talk playful, groom yourself, and skip the Nair war stories because we’ve all learned that lesson.
Dermaplaning smooths skin and takes off peach fuzz; yes, women have it, no shame.
Summer House life: I’m the party planner more than ever, groceries rotate, my breakfast casserole feeds a crowd, we savor Midwest storms, and that group mic-off before nights out feels like freedom.
The bloopers and costume themes are peak joy; arguing while dressed as retirees is ridiculous in the best way.
Baseball detour: the World Baseball Classic is a global, pre-MLB rush; USA are favorites, Mark DeRosa manages with legends on staff, and it really grabs me by the quarterfinals.
I’m in—let’s bring it home and keep the winning streak going.
KD energy to close—episode thirty five, thanks for hanging with us.
