Episode summary
Your money targets are undersized, and I’m going to prove it. I run a portfolio at Acquisition.com that does over two hundred fifty million in annual revenue, broke a world record with my book launch, and today I want you to rethink income, investing, saving, and timelines.
The usual advice to stash a little each month ignores inflation’s bite; a dollar from the mid‑seventies buys roughly six today. That means a “million” at retirement won’t feel like a million in lifestyle.
Plan in future dollars, not today’s. If your dream number is big, it likely needs to be many times bigger—and the good news is compounding still works if you give it more fuel and time.
First, grow your income. You can’t cut your way to wealth, but you can stack skills, side gigs, and new offers so every extra dollar you earn gets invested instead of absorbed.
Your edge when you’re young is time. Starting even a decade earlier can turn small contributions into outsized results, so act now even if the paycheck isn’t what you want yet.
Second, spend less. Every flex today taxes your future; even a modest lease or flashy buy can snowball into a massive opportunity cost you’ll feel later.
Third, save and invest faster. Either set a minimum bank balance and invest the surplus, or invest first every month and live on what’s left; builders think invest‑first by default.
Fourth, buy income‑producing skills. I lived lean—roommates, split rooms, a paid‑off used car—and poured cash into learning sales and ads, and those hours paid back more than any market ever did.
Pay for speed. A few thousand with the right teacher can permanently lift your earning power, especially when you stack tight feedback loops so you learn in days what would take years.
Drop the ego and fear of sunk costs. Skills are like links in a bridge—you need the missing rungs before advanced playbooks click, and you only win after you’re willing to lose a little to learn.
Set a learning budget and get in rooms ahead of you. I tested spend I was prepared to lose, which unlocked scale; proximity plus generosity—helping others first—compressed my learning and multiplied returns.
You can reach freedom by living below your means, investing in skills, and letting compounding run. Grab my three books for free while they’re available, use the free scaling diagnostic to see where your business is stuck, and if you want deeper work, come by the HQ; I’m here to help—keep going.
