Yes—West Coast slotting and a stoic style kept him quieter, while Vrabel’s player cred and media charisma carry headlines. The breathless praise for basic practice wrinkles got silly.

Is Darnold a one-of-one comeback, or do you see a comp?

Jim Plunkett’s the closest: high pick, written off, resurfaces and wins. That “seeing ghosts” moment never should’ve aired, and in the Super Bowl he avoided the back-breaking error and Houdini’d out of sacks, while the NFC title game was his true masterpiece.

He’s earned an extension and now edges Baker as the modern redemption benchmark.

How should Pats fans feel about Drake May after this run?

He was steady all fall, but in four playoff games the sacks and fumbles piled up and the offense stalled. Next year’s schedule is a gauntlet, the left tackle looked rough, and I’m not penciling them into the postseason.

There were drops and it’s only year two—does that buy him grace?

The whole offense scuffled, but some of those sacks are on him, and one hundred two in thirty three starts is a flashing light. He’ll grow, it’s just not automatic that they’re back here.

Stafford edged May for MVP—was that the right call?

Absolutely; Stafford was the best player, and the context behind slicing Seattle matters. Also, we’ve got to cool it with the reflex Josh Allen first-place votes—my chaotic fix would be drawing one ballot at random so voters take every line seriously.

Who’s watching from the beach thinking they could’ve won that game?

The Broncos, for sure. And on Stafford’s legacy, he’s a Hall of Famer, but not a top ten all-timer given the Detroit decade.
