What separated Seattle? Not just Mike Macdonald’s chessboard, but the juice. They swarmed, reset the line, and hunted in packs—pure urgency and discipline every snap.
What bothered me about the Niners? The edge wasn’t there. On the loose ball after the quarterback got stepped on, I didn’t feel that all-out scramble, and the third-and-seventeen run was an effort play you can’t allow when you’re chasing the top seed.
Was it still winnable for San Francisco? Yes. They drove late and, if McCaffrey hauls that in, we’re likely at 13 to 10 with a frantic finish, even though Seattle controlled both trenches all night.
Where does this leave Seattle? They look like the class of the NFC—deep rush rotation, confidence everywhere, and year two under Macdonald humming. You want a ring, you’re flying to Seattle to face the dark side.
How could the NFC shake out? If the Rams take care of business, they’re the five and pull the NFC South winner. The Niners likely see Philly or Chicago, and a Philly rematch still carries that old playoff sting.
Quick Bucs–Panthers notes: Tampa edged it 16 to 14 in messy conditions. I didn’t like that early-contact flag inside five yards, and a trick play in that weather was asking for it. Bryce Young’s fighting, and the South stays wild with those tiebreakers.
Ravens–Steelers outlook? Straight fistfight. The line favors Baltimore by four. Lamar’s health matters, Pittsburgh’s offense needs answers, and if King Henry gets rolling, I lean Ravens to cover.
