It’s New Year’s Eve, I’m bundled up and feeling good, and the second we bring up Jake Paul it gets hot fast.
Why go after Francis Ngannou right after Anthony Joshua beat him up?
You’d think he’d circle back to a safer name like Anderson Silva, but Jake’s stubborn and brave to a fault, so he sprinted toward Francis instead of rebuilding.
Would Francis even take it now?
I’ve asked around and no one’s sure, but after Joshua took the fight and cashed in, I can see Francis being more open; maybe it’s not eighty million, but twenty or thirty is real money and the risk feels lower than Fury or Joshua, even though Jake would still be tiny next to him.
Jake keeps saying he did better than Francis against Joshua. Does that add up?
Not really. Francis stood his ground and believed he could face fire; Jake tried to survive on his bike. Joshua’s first true right hand dropped both of them, so calling Francis chinny is off, and the ‘I lasted longer’ line doesn’t mean what he thinks it means.
Could Jake even hurt Francis?
I doubt it. Joshua ate Jake’s best overhands and kept marching; Francis won’t carry him either. Think Deontay Wilder energy—every shot thrown to end your night—while a slick technician like Fury can coast if he wants. That’s why this matchup is so dangerous.
Books have Francis around minus one thousand five hundred and Jake at plus six hundred.
That sounds right. You can’t knock Jake’s guts or toughness, but I question the wisdom because the damage adds up. Francis iced elite heavyweights like Alistair Overeem, Stipe Miocic, and Jairzinho Rozenstruik, and he even dropped Tyson Fury, so MMA math—or boxing math—doesn’t get Jake to safety here.
