Episode summary

Daddy Gang, welcome back to Sunday session; I’m rolling in post‑holiday tired, cracking a POG Unwell Energy, and giving us all permission to start resolutions Monday while we melt into the couch with leftovers.

A TikTok had me thinking: when you’ve been together forever and just spent days side‑by‑side, what do you even talk about at dinner?

On busy days Matt and I never run out of stories, but slow stretches can feel empty; comfy quiet is fine, constant quiet can mean we’ve slid into autopilot.

I went looking for wisdom and found an article on 60 and Me about a couple who felt stale at year thirty and woke things up with novelty, not grand gestures, just fresh experiences like new recipes and even rock climbing.

The takeaway is clear: we drift toward easy routines, so put new moments in the mix together because they create energy and conversation; swap Netflix for a midweek cooking class and watch the flirty debriefs and random stories spill out.

Just as important, try new things on your own; keep your independence, your friends, and your hobbies so you stay interesting to each other and you’re not isolated if the relationship wobbles.

Level up the way you talk by asking better questions and staying curious about even the small stuff; open ended prompts about wins, stress, childhood friends, first jobs, or favorite songs can unfold into real connection.

If dinner feels dull, treat it like play and use question decks or silly prompts; my parents even do a monthly speaker series, then grab dinner and unpack it, which is both adorable and effective.

Silence can be intimacy when it feels warm, but it’s a red flag when it’s the only option or feels lonely; curiosity and effort from both sides bring the spark back, and if one person won’t meet you, that matters.

Questions of the week: for the friend who still thinks she’s inner‑circle while you’re at medium, reset gently by slowing responses, setting new boundaries, steering hangouts to sober or low‑key plans, or letting the bond settle into its right size.

To the new grad whose crew is still partying like campus life, you can’t force their pace; build community around the life you want, dip in for the occasional wild night if it fills your cup, and adjust expectations so you can love them from a healthier distance.

For the boyfriend who never cries, tears aren’t the metric; emotional attunement is, and if he can’t meet you there it rarely changes fast, so decide if you want a partner who can truly hold you, with therapy as a possible but slow exception.

Big theme today is growth: keep learning, keep trying new things together and apart, and don’t confuse comfort with complacency because life slows down and you want to love who you’re sitting with.

Unwell Energy is now at Target, I had way too much fun making wig‑filled launch videos, and we kept the formula clean with no sucralose or artificial flavors; send in more questions, trust your gut, and let’s make this a ridiculously good year.
