Welcome back to the Richard Sherman Podcast. Big offseason show today, so stick with us, hit subscribe, and let’s dive into free agency, the draft, and all the chaos.
Question: What do I make of the Trent McDuffie deal to the Rams? Answer: Kansas City sent him to Los Angeles for a first, a fifth, a sixth, and a 2027 third, and while he’s a recent All-Pro, that’s a massive price for a corner.
From the Rams’ side, it screams win now in a hyper-competitive NFC West, and they’ve never been shy about moving first rounders. I figured a first plus a future third would land him, but they clearly wanted to close fast.
For the Chiefs, it hints at a light reset, maybe even accepting that Mahomes might not be back in time and using the year to retool. The picks and cap space help them fortify the pass rush, shore up the offensive line, and shop the running back market.
Who’s hitting the market? Trey Hendrickson and Kyler Murray won’t be tagged, and Hendrickson will draw calls from contenders like the Niners, Seahawks, and you can never count out Philly or the Rams, but price will decide it.
Where does Kyler fit best? The Jets feel like the clearest match given their need, and with the right scheme and weapons he can produce at a Pro Bowl level.
I don’t see Minnesota as a natural fit, and Cleveland already has Deshaun Watson, so that room is crowded. If a trade materializes, it likely takes a contract adjustment, and there’s even the distant baseball path still lingering from his A’s draft day.
