The timing lined up after my last fight, and even the setbacks pushed me here. I love this matchup and I’m planning to finish him.

It’s the White House, but the opponent isn’t a marquee name; were you surprised when it was Aiemann Zahabi?

He called me out before and I told the UFC I’d take it; I even asked for Petr Yan here, then got offered Aiemann and said yes. I trust the process and I’ll make it count.

He’s steady, tough, and well-schooled, not flashy; does that style create danger or walk him into your traps?

I see him stepping into openings I set, a lot like Cheeto but with more pressure, which brings the knockout. Still, it’s a huge chance for him, so I’m ready for his best night.

If anyone gains the most spotlight here it’s Zahabi if he wins; why hasn’t his streak clicked with fans, and what does a win do for your title path?

Some wins were dramatic, others were close, and not every performance sticks with people; this could be his breakout, but I’m not letting that happen. For me, a big statement keeps me right near the belt.

Do you need a spectacular finish to lock in a title shot, or is a win enough?

Even a viral KO might not guarantee it because Yan versus Merab and their timelines still matter. I’ll deliver the finish and then see what that opens up.

As a kid in Montana who chased fighting in Arizona, could you have imagined being a featured name on this lawn?

I always pictured superstardom, not this venue; it took rare circumstances to make a White House card happen. I still feel like I spoke this career into reality.

It’s America’s birthday and a lot of your peers are underdogs; do you feel extra responsibility to bring one home?

I fight for myself and my team, and the pressure I feel comes from my own standard. Maybe later I’ll see the moment differently, but right now it’s man versus man.
