Short podcasts with real voices
What is going on, everybody. Round two is humming on a Friday night, and it delivered. Deep class, plenty of action, so let’s rip through what mattered without wasting your time.
What made this round feel so loaded?
From the mid twenties to the seventies, it was stacked with real starters. If you love college ball, you recognized a lot of dudes who can play right now.
Biggest jolt of the night?
Howie Roseman struck again. He sent two third rounders for Jonathan Greenard and handed him a four year, one hundred million dollar deal with heavy guarantees. That is cash over cap in action, and it shows how much Jeffrey Lurie empowers aggression.
How does that reshape Philly?
They badly needed edge juice and got a proven finisher. Add in new weapons like Stowers at tight end, plus all the firepower they already have with Saquon and a deep receiver room, and the roster is loaded again. If Jalen plays clean and they lean into the run game, they look dangerous.
You’ve been on this new wave of GMs. Where is the league right now?
More teams are wheeling and dealing like the NBA used to. Some execs still play PR games about never moving good players, but the contenders pounce when value appears. Howie keeps mid draft curveballs interesting.
What did the 49ers tell you with their pick?
Kyle believes playmakers who score are worth more draft capital than linemen when grades are close. He grabbed a true field stretcher out of Ole Miss, and in today’s transfer world that is no red flag. The Niners needed pure speed to threaten downfield.
Give me your Texans snapshot.
Man for man, that roster is right there with anyone. They added tone setters up front, and if CJ keeps it efficient and lets the defense and special teams carry weight, they can absolutely win it all.
You flagged Clemson. What stood out?
They pushed multiple defenders into the top forty across two nights, yet underachieved. The talent was real; coaching cohesion and quarterback play were the problems.
Any college defenses that really popped for you?
Texas Tech rolled out several grown men in the front seven. With that kind of defense paired to a vintage Mike Leach offense, they would have been in the title mix.
How much do medicals and value still control the board?
Medical flags can drop a blue chip fast. Smart teams marry tape with price; that is how the Browns landed the Toledo safety at the right spot. Coaches push for their guy now, but overdrafting bites you. In a thin quarterback year, reaching makes even less sense.
Who quietly crushed it?
The Jets landed an undersized but fearless corner who just makes plays. The Browns kept stacking value. The Chiefs added another live edge and look set to lean more on the ground while mixing in Justin Fields packages. In the North, the Bengals beefed up the front and feel like the pick today.
Quarterback quick hits?
Cold weather demands real arm strength. Drew Allar to Pittsburgh has tools, but the feel worries me. Carson Beck looked sharper late and makes more sense as a steady starter type. In weak QB classes, second round quarterbacks who stick are rare.
I’ll go deeper Monday on the Steelers moment, the Ty Simpson parallels to Green Bay’s old plan, and any veteran moves that pop after the draft. Day three can be a slog, so pace yourself, enjoy it, and I’ll see you after the weekend.
