Episode summary

You’re not making the money you want because you’re trying to take it from people who don’t have it, and today I’m walking you through the mental shift and the math that shows why capital pools at the top and how you can tap it.

Wealth is wildly concentrated, which means selling to people with money isn’t a cute slogan, it’s reality, so stop slicing scraps and go where the pile actually is.

The Pareto pattern rules business: a small slice of customers drives most of the profit, and within that slice the top of the top drives the lion’s share.

Build a model that can serve big-ticket buyers, expect most people to decline, and when a whale shows up, go all in.

Start from the top down, anchor high, and let the brand and operations expand downward later rather than clawing up from a discount position.

Serving the masses profitably takes huge capital and automation, so if you’re a service business, go premium before you dream of volume.

Price in tiers with five to ten times jumps and plan for a small percentage to upgrade because those few buyers swing the bottom line.

Tiny price gaps are noise; price is a signal of who you serve, and big steps tell the right buyers this is built for them.

Stop selling from your own wallet; the top ten percent has plenty, and being too cheap can kill belief more than any objection.

Create an upsell you’re proud to fulfill at ten times the price, and if it feels like too much work, either do less or charge more; expect more no’s and make peace with it.

Think in absolute profit, not feelings: one large sale can replace hundreds of tiny ones, and the wealthy accelerate by compounding and choosing higher‑leverage moves.

My own break came when I named a number to force a no, heard a yes, repeated it, and stacked a morning’s worth of high‑ticket closes that shattered my beliefs about price.

If you’re stuck on where to start, add a zero to your current price and design the value to match, because different buyers have different thresholds.

Use your close rate to tune price: if almost everyone buys, you’re underpriced, and you should qualify up and set minimums so you’re talking to buyers who can spend.

Your pricing and marketing tell the market who you are; discounts and commodity pitches repel affluent buyers, while clear positioning, lead scoring, and higher standards attract them.

Don’t sell the same thing cheaper; sell a different category that’s faster, easier, and de‑risked because the people with money pay for speed, certainty, and convenience.

Raise price, deliver better, earn a stronger reputation, and let demand and margins compound.

Go where the money is, serve fewer premium clients instead of many budget buyers, and stay in that lane long enough for proximity to make you one of them.
