Episode summary

Quick side note on testing ads: I don’t learn much unless I’m ready to spend about two times my target CAC up front, because light spend drips feedback too slowly to be useful.

I sell a Go High Level setup to online fitness coaches, did around two million, want to hit a million a month, and after fixing bad retention we’ve got strong LTV and decent CAC, but our Meta budget is tiny and I’m unsure how to make the CRM irresistible on the front end.

At two thousand a month you can’t tell if it works, so commit to a real test and lead with the pain of living in the DMs, a short Instagram automation demo as the magnet, sharp case studies that mirror different coach niches, then VSL to call to close.

Since you don’t want to run a mentorship, aim one level up and sell through fitness business coaches and agencies with hooks about durable recurring revenue and you handling the backend, which avoids being dragged into lead gen for every coach but does mean serving both the mentors and their clients.

Got it, we’ll test Meta properly and try ads aimed at fitness business mentors so they bring their rosters while we stay the automation platform.

When I ran a similar play, agencies paid to onboard, paid per client they moved over, and we shared recurring, so one agency acquisition unlocked dozens of end customers with great unit economics.

I sell new construction to first‑time buyers, we’re around two hundred million and want three hundred, but the choke point is taking raw land through permits and development without parking cash for years.

Solve it by buying or acqui‑hiring a proven land developer, start with teams you’ve already bought finished lots from, and use talent pulls or long seller‑financed deals if relationships are hard to transfer.

It is a different business, but at your size you’re running a portfolio anyway, and if land is the constraint it’s the highest‑return use of resources, the kind that can unlock order‑of‑magnitude growth rather than a few percent.

We’ve avoided it as a distraction, but if we’re stuck, we’ll reconsider vertical integration to move the ceiling.

I run a leading stem cell clinic and broader biotech platform at about twenty four million, aiming for two hundred fifty to five hundred, and I need to raise much larger checks without getting squeezed out; I still own sixty five percent, but my experience is with smaller rounds.

Control is structure, not only equity, so protect voting if needed and treat the raise like a sale by mapping what big investors must see to believe, de‑risking in steps, and building the story before asking for a hundred million.

We’re targeting roughly one hundred twenty six million at a five hundred million valuation after a prior round around fifty, with regulatory and lab scale as the big questions even though the tech is proven in clinic.

Position the step‑up as fewer assumptions left on the path to a multibillion outcome, with the hardest technical proof done and the remaining bottleneck mostly capital while regulation trends positive; fewer unknowns justify a higher price.

I tend to dive into science and lose the room, so I’ll keep the pitch focused on returns and the narrative.

Exactly—investors want confidence they’ll make a lot of money, so sell the outcome and your ability to deliver, not the lab manual.
