Episode summary

To Sharper Square, part of the Volume Podcast Network—the show that makes the squares sharper and makes the wise guys pay attention. I’m Chad Newman with my BFF and pro bettor Simon Hunter; I’m still a bit wrecked but ready to make some bold calls and have a day.

Seattle minus seven at Carolina, seven and a half in the contest; public piling on the Panthers as a dog. I want to fade that and lean Seahawks—are we taking the shot?

I’m in. The number’s high for a reason: Seattle’s defense should overwhelm Bryce Young, and Carolina’s shown cracks against good play callers. It’s ugly to fade the trendy dog, but Seattle feels like the well-coached, top-seed caliber side that rolls here.

New Orleans at Tennessee moved from Saints minus three to one and a half; we grabbed Titans plus two and a half in the contest. Sharps are on Tennessee with the public on New Orleans—still love it.

I do too, and I don’t think the exact number matters much with two rookie QBs inviting chaos. The market move tracks the pro money, the Saints hype is frothy after last week, and Tennessee’s been feistier since the coaching change.

Pittsburgh at Cleveland ticked to three and a half; we’re back to our roots with the Browns at home and fading the Steelers in a rah-rah road favorite spot. It’s nerve‑racking, but I like the hook.

It’s never comfy, yet this matchup often tilts Cleveland’s way and the run game can carry them against a banged-up Steelers front. Divisional variance is real, and the three and a half helps if this lands tight.

Philadelphia at Buffalo, Bills now around minus two; we’ve been building a position, even money line at one. We’re banking on Josh Allen playing and attacking the Eagles’ run defense in bad weather.

Public’s heavy on Buffalo, which I hate, but I still trust Allen at home in gross conditions, especially under a field goal. Hurts as a dog is scary, and Philly injuries matter, yet I’m good with any sub-three Bills number.

Bears plus three and a half at the 49ers on Sunday night; I’ve got Niners futures and I still want the hook with Chicago’s run game. I’m tailing you here.

Best of both worlds is Niners win, Bears cover. Chicago’s offense can stress a thin San Francisco pass rush, and their defense has disguised looks all year that can steal a possession; I think they’re live.

Giants at Raiders went haywire after the Max Crosby IR news; that killed my interest in backing Vegas. With that kerfuffle, I’m off it.

Same—two teams in tank mode and late-night Vegas vibes are a mess. If you must, sprinkle money line, but I’d rather pass.

Patriots at Jets with New York catching thirteen and a half at home; in theory it’s an automatic divisional dog. I want to make the case we discuss it.

I get the angle, but the Jets look checked out and poorly coached, while New England’s injuries loom more for the playoffs than here. I can’t put money on a team that’s quit.

Final five for the contest: Seattle minus seven and a half, Tennessee plus two and a half, Cleveland plus three and a half, Buffalo minus one and a half, and the Chicago Bears plus three and a half. This has been Sharper Square; we’re back live on YouTube tonight after America’s Game of the Week—rate, review, subscribe, feedback is the gift. Love you, come on.
