Episode summary
I’m Jeremy Tashay here with our guy, the expert himself, Tony Galadio. Can today’s player really hang with you in your prime?
My best run was around 2017 to 2018, hooping every day with former pros at ESPN. That’s when the ten‑day Tony legend started. People saw a production dude tossing lobs and getting buckets and wondered where it came from. As for load management, I’m the opposite. I pay to play, so I’m not sitting and costing anyone money. I’m on the floor for forty minutes and trying to make people money, not lose it.
We dug up some high school notes on Tony. Sixteen games, listed as an undersized four. Before we get into numbers, what’s the injury story?
Was that meniscus repaired or removed? A repair means a longer road back.
It was a repair. I tore it the first practice, rehabbed, then played half the year. And yeah, this was 2010, pre‑small‑ball era. We were already playing that way in Miami. The stat line was about fourteen and six on good efficiency, and I was just a teenager. We saw real competition too. Tim Hardaway Jr. lit us up in the district final.
I’ve blown it today. Before a Canes‑Aggies showdown people are calling the biggest in roughly twenty years, I should’ve been cranking the hype machine instead of reliving Killian High. Greg Cody tried from an Uber with a festive level of beers in him and got us fired up for the moment.
Let’s hit last night. Turnovers swing everything. Marcel Reed throws interceptable balls. Miami’s pass rush can force mistakes. The Canes only get in trouble when they give it away like they did versus Louisville. They’re built to avoid blowouts because they’re balanced on both sides.
Even if Texas A and M jumps out early, I think Miami scores plenty. I haven’t trusted A and M down the stretch. The Canes’ firepower should be too much.
About Seattle and the Rams. We just watched two complete teams. The only real worry with Seattle is whether their quarterback hands it away. If Stafford makes one of those wild mistakes, it feels shocking. If Darnold does, everyone shrugs and says, there it is. Seattle has a lot of giveaways and still sits with a strong point differential. Get the bye and you only need two wins. That’s the old New England hack.
The numbers back it. Seattle is near the top in turnovers on offense but also near the top creating them on defense, which keeps them afloat.
One‑score randomness matters. Seattle’s losses are by a handful of points. You doubt the quarterback, but they’re a couple plays from a spotless record.
Stafford looked like an MVP‑level guy even in a loss. And the 49ers, with all those injuries, still have a path to the top seed. That coaching job is wild.
Holiday party chaos check: a new staffer’s dog got a little too affectionate with a laptop, Frankie showed up dressed like Dominican Blade, and we’re plotting a Netflix fight night bit where someone eats spaghetti out of a bag. Do we send stunt Dan as my body double and confuse everyone? I’m half‑serious.
Valerie was lobbying for another dog, which made me remember the time a pit bull and a cat nearly turned your house into an ER visit.
True story. We brought a pit bull into a house ruled by cats, and it was a disaster. I ended up bleeding, my wife got bit trying to break it up, and the cat basically claimed the deed to the place. It was a mess, and yes, we should’ve replayed more of drunk Greg Cody today.
All right, Zas is great at this, but let’s do ‘you know about that’ with Trista today. Quick hitters.
Do you know about the Bucks trying to keep Giannis happy by chasing Zach LaVine?
Giannis has been noncommittal at times, and LaVine is the kind of scorer who could help. If they go that route, I’d kick the tires on DeMar DeRozan too.
Sporting News floated the Warriors cutting ties with Steph. You buying that?
No way. That reads like clickbait passed around until it looked real. I’m calling fiction.
They’re considering moving the NBA Cup final from Vegas to college arenas like Cameron Indoor. Good idea?
Terrible. Smaller, harder to reach, and it kills the Vegas energy. Keep it in the desert.
Rumblings that the Mavericks could flip Klay back to the Warriors. Make sense?
It feels more like Klay might want out than Dallas actively shopping him. If he pushes, a Golden State reunion is the one that tracks.
Trae Young returned in a loss. Any read?
I missed the return, but the Hawks feel like they’re showcasing. I still think they’re open to moving Trae if it boosts their long‑term plan.
Sidebar. I told my wife if we ever reach the point of ‘let’s try counseling,’ just hand me the divorce.
Nope. Everyone can use counseling, healthy or not. It’s a tool, not a surrender.
Matthew Berry is here. We need some fantasy winners.
Roll Tide. Quarterbacks first. Jacoby Brissett has been a steady fantasy starter all season, and Jared Goff is stacking yards and touchdowns. If you’re desperate, Bryce Young draws a defense that bleeds passing yards. At running back, volume plays like Bucky Irving matter, and Tyrone Tracy has quietly delivered top‑tier numbers when healthy. Kenneth Gainwell has been a shocker since Week Eleven with strong usage through the air. For receivers, Jameson Williams has been popping with deep shots, and Mike Evans came back to a massive target share. At tight end, Dallas Goedert is live for a touchdown against a defense that struggles versus the position, and Cincinnati has allowed a mountain of tight end scores, so Darren Waller anytime is a dart I like. Happy Holidays. Roll Tide.
Appreciate you, Matthew. Happy Holidays.
Happy Holidays, everyone. Roll Tide.
