UFC 324 just ended, and I’m here with a quick, honest breakdown. What a night with big momentum swings and a main event that absolutely delivered.
Justin Gaethje was overlooked all week, then reclaimed the interim lightweight title and did it as the oldest champion at one hundred fifty-five. He stayed humble and grateful, shouting out his parents and coaches.
He walked Paddy Pimblett down from the start, created car-crash exchanges, and scored clean knockdowns. Pimblett kept surviving and never checked out.
Round three was Paddy’s best, then Justin reset in the fourth and took it back with pressure. I told him afterward he fought like a savage, and on a new network that kind of chaos makes new fans—on special nights, nothing touches the UFC.
Pimblett’s stock climbed even in defeat, so the hype-talk can stop. He showed real championship grit and a future at the top.
Co-main: Sean O’Malley beat Song Yadong with composed, mature work and loved getting a hard win. I don’t think that performance alone earns a title shot; he needed something emphatic.
Waldo Cortes-Acosta stopped Derrick Lewis, and Lewis looked a step behind. Waldo feels like a heavyweight who’s going to matter for a long time.
Elsewhere, Natalia Silva beat Rose Namajunas, and John Silva with Arnold Allen put on a banger. Nikita Krylov pulled a last-second TKO, Alex Perez returned with a crucial finish, Charles Johnson wanted a later stoppage but I thought the ref saved him, Josh Hogan dominated Denzel Freeman, and Tim Miller stopped Adam Fugitt.
Finishers each earned an extra twenty-five thousand dollars, and performance and fight-of-the-night are now one hundred thousand. The new deal is already lifting pay, so it’s on the athletes to chase those bonuses.
